This interaction can go in so many ways. You can tame the creatures and even fight with them to collect useful items. But obviously, there are some deadly creatures. You can deal with them if you have the right weapon.

Pike & Sword Comparison

Both of these are close combat weapons. They are designed to damage your opponent with slashes, leaving them more damaged. One of the weapons has more damage points compared to the other one. Whereas, one weapon can be crafted easily and the other one requires more advanced ingredients.

Pike in Ark

Pike is a melee weapon that can be crafted in Ark. You might have seen the Spear, Pike is quite similar to it. But the main difference is that Pike is not throwable. Whereas a Spear can be thrown at your target. However, a Pike is much more durable than a Spear and does better damage. 

Pike can be considered a Metal Spear. Because it is much similar to a Spear. It has an immense attacking speed of 1.5. This means you can do 1.5 attacks per second. More attacking speed means you are doing more damage to the target in less time. 

Pike has a damage rating of 50 points which makes it an excellent close-range weapon. Although, this is safer than a Sword because it is a long weapon that can be used from a safe distance. Making it more reliable than a Sword. 

These are the details about the Pike. Now, you can craft it on a Refining Forge using a Smithy. But you need to be at or above Level 25. At this level, Pike can be unlocked and you must have already the Spear.

Sword in Ark

Sword is a powerful melee weapon. It is way more powerful and faster than a Pike. It is an advanced weapon but this doesn’t let you stay at a safe distance. You have to get close to your target and attack it. 

This can be dangerous as you have a higher chance of receiving damage from creatures. Although, a Sword can do a lot more damage to your opponent in less time. This is because of the high damage rating and fast attacking speed. 

It has a damage rating of 90 and 1.9 RPS. Meaning it can do 1.9 attacks in a second which is faster than Pike. Also, the damage rating is double that of Pike. Sword can be unlocked once you reach Level 30 and have already unlocked the Wooden Club. 

Sword is a one-hand weapon that allows you to equip a Shield in the second hand. This is a great advantage. Now, here is what you need to craft a Sword. 

• 50x Metal Ingot
• 1x Wood
• 15x Hide

These are the same ingredients that are required for the Pike. You can easily find them anywhere. Once you have the ingredients, you can interact with the Refining Forge and use the Smithy to craft your Sword. 

If you haven’t crafted the Refining Forge structure yet then you can do so by interacting with the structures section. You need to be at least Level 20. Also, you must have crafted the Campfire structure. Now, with the following ingredients, you can build the Refining Forge structure. 

• 125x Stone
• 5x Flint
• 65x Hide
• 20x Wood
• 40x Fiber

Ark Pike VS Sword PVE

PVE is full of danger in Conan Exiles. You are always surrounded by huge creatures. These creatures are your main threat. It’s not that easy to deal with them. So, you should have a powerful weapon and a higher-level creature with you. Otherwise, you can’t save yourself. 

For now, we are discussing the Pike and Sword. My suggestion is to choose the Sword. It is an advanced weapon and much better than a Pike. It can do a lot of damage in a shorter time period. Whereas, a Pike will deal less damage and has a slower attacking rate. 

You should definitely go with the Sword. Or else, it will be quite hard to deal with the Alpha creatures in Ark 

How Much Damage Does Pike Do Ark? 

Pike has a significantly lower Damage rating compared to that of a Sword. A Pike has a damage rating of 50 points which is not even close to that of a Sword. This is because Pike can be crafted at Level 25. 

Whereas, a Sword can do damage of 90 points which is almost double of a Pike. That’s why you should craft the Sword as soon as you reach Level 30. This is a much better alternative to Pike. 

Is Pike a Sword? 

Nope, Pike and Sword are entirely different weapons. Pike can be identified as a Spear which is a throwable weapon. Whereas, a Pike is a close combat melee weapon. 

Pike has most of its parts made from Wood and Hide. It has a pointing metal at its tip which is used to damage the opponent. However, a Sword is mostly made of metal which is why it is quite sharp and does a lot more damage. 

Is Pike Worth It Ark? 

I would say if you are going to hunt down lower-level creatures then it’s okay. However, for higher-level creatures, it’s not worth it. It is a durable weapon that has a good durability rating but a lower damage rating. 

You can use Pike until you reach level 30 and unlock the Sword or any other better weapon. As soon as you hit new levels, I would suggest you to switch a better and more powerful weapon. This is because you are going to face more dangerous creatures ahead.
