Especially in fishing—some say that it is just luck—you can easily earn money by catching the most profitable fish in Stardew Valley.

It is true that having access to all types of fish in the game is good as they can give you various benefits by providing you with a wide variety of resources. But if you think about it, not all types of fish stay essential in the long run. That being said, we made a guide to help you understand what types of fish in Stardew Valley are worth keeping.

Important note: This guide talks about the most profitable fish in general. You can check the most profitable fish in ponds here.

Legend

Legend fish

Ever heard of the king of all fish? It is none other than the Legend fish. The obvious fact is that it is a one-of-a-kind type of fish by just hearing its name as it is one of the five legendary fish.

This type of fish can only be caught in the Mountain Lake on rainy days during the spring season. However, there are some special requirements that you have to meet in order to have this kind of fish. While fishing, you should:

  1. have already reached the fishing skill level of 10
  2. land the bobber five tiles away from any land in any direction
  3. land the bobber in bubbles if it is one tile away from any land

In terms of its selling price, the Legend fish really competes well with everyone. Its base prices from normal to iridium quality are as follows: 5,000 gold, 6,250 gold, 7,500 gold, and 10,000 gold.

With the Fisher profession, the price can increase by 25% and reach the following prices: 6,250 gold, 7,812 gold, 9,775 gold, and 12,500 gold. Meanwhile, the Angler profession can give a 50% increase to their base selling prices and turn them into expensive costs: 7,500 gold, 9,375 gold, 11,250 gold, and 15,000 gold.

Crimsonfish

Crimsofish is another candidate from the five legendary fish. It can be found at any time at The Beach during the summer season.

Just like any other legendary fish, it also has some special requirements before being able to acquire it.

  1. The player must reach at least level 5 in the Fishing Skill.
  2. The player must position himself at the far east land of the Beach by repairing the bridge.
  3. By throwing the line, the bobber must land at least four tiles away from any land.

By selling this fish, you gain a profit of 1,500 gold, 1,875 gold, 2,250 gold, or 3,000 gold from the normal to iridium quality respectively. But as you choose specific professions, you can still increase these selling prices.

The Fisher profession adds 25% of the base price which makes them a lot more expensive. From normal to iridium quality, the value becomes 1,875 gold, 2,343 gold, 2,812 gold, and 3,750 gold. If that’s not hefty enough, the Angler profession can add another half of the base prices. With that, you can sell this for either 2,250 gold, 2,812 gold, 3,375 fold, or 4,500 gold.

However, the Angler profession can still step up these values by 50%—1,500 gold, 1,875 gold, 2,250 gold, and 3,000 gold.
