Where to Find Shadowy Figure Stardew Valley

As an RPG game, Stardew Valley would, of course, require interactions with in-game characters. So, which includes people and monsters – although encounters with them may be more appropriately called fighting rather than interacting.

Upon playing Stardew Valley, a particular event during winter would be triggered and in turn. Also, reveal a mysteriously-looking shadowy figure in Stardew Valley which would try to run away as soon as it appears. As intriguing as it sounds, it is uncertain if this creature is a person or a monster; a friend or a foe.

Winter Mystery Quest

Winter Mystery Quest

Referring to the event mentioned above, there would be a mysterious quest that is quite known among the players of Stardew Valley. This quest could only be triggered during the winter hence its name: Winter Mystery Quest.

To unlock and start the quest, you must depart the farm and proceed by the bus stop between 6 am and 4 pm, once again, during the winter. By doing so, a cutscene will be displayed. Showing the Shadowy Figure in Stardew Valley acting a little sketchy, eventually bolting towards the town.

Ultimately, the objective of the game is to find where this Shadowy Guy has hidden and obtain the Magnifying Glass from it which can be used to find Secret Notes when digging, chopping trees, killing monsters, and other activities as such. No need to fret because this creature will leave trails of its footsteps, making it quite a piece of cake to find it.

However, the trails disappear after some time. Nevertheless, it would always hide at the very same spot so you can always look for it. To find him even with the trails gone, you just need to interact with the bush next to the playground –  left of the Community Center. The Shadowy Figure in Stardew Valley would then pop out, handing you the Magnifying Glass, then running off again.

Who Is the Shadowy Figure?

Where to Find Shadowy Figure Stardew Valley - Krobus

Among the monsters in Stardew Valley, ranging from those showing up on the farm to the most dangerous ones, the Shadowy Figure in Stardew Valley named Krobus is the only friendly monster you can meet in the game.

Krobus seems not fond of interacting with the villagers since according to him, they, monsters, had developed a fear of humans. But, you can still establish a friendship with Krobus if you interact with him in particular ways. All the while, he is still friends with the hostile monsters because needless to say, he is still a monster.

Where Can I Find Krobus?

Shadowy Figure

After completing the Winter Mystery Quest, Krobus would run off and never want to be seen again. But if still wish to see Krobus again, you can find him in the Sewers where he lives. The Sewers is located in the south of Pelican Town

Although the Sewers’ location might be a given and an easy place to turn up to. From the other side, entering it is another story.

Entering the Sewers

In order to gain access to the Sewers, you first need to donate 60 items. Such as artifacts or minerals to the Museum. After reaching this particular number of donations, a cutscene will emerge which shows Gunther greeting the player by the front door of the museum, giving thanks for the contributions, and finally handing the Rusty Key.

The Rusty Key would then unlock passage to the Sewers which can be either through the Pelican Town or by using the Cindersap Forest grates. Krobus would be there, and will always be there – always in the same, exact spot.

Relationship with Krobus

Relationship with Krobus

Friendship

Regardless of being a monster, as to how Stardew Valley’s friendship mechanics works, Krobus also has his own friendship level. Once you earn passage into the Sewers, you can freely visit Krobus. After that, start working on fortifying your friendship with him. Like any other villager that you want to befriend, Gifting is also applicable to increase your friendship with Krobus. Which could also be up to two gifts per week.

Among the various items that can be employed for gifting in Stardew Valley, Krobus also has his preferences in gifts. His loved gifts which can significantly escalate your friendship level are Diamonds, Iridium Bar, Pumpkin, Void Egg, Void Mayonnaise, Wild Horseradish, and all the Universal Love Gifts. On the other hand, his liked gifts include Gold Bar, Quartz, and all Universal Like Gifts except Life Elixir and All Cooking. While, Neutral gifts for him are all the Universal Neutral Gifts, all Eggs (except Void Egg), all Fruits (except Fruit Tree Fruit and Salmonberry), and all Milk.

Meanwhile, Krobus dislikes receiving all Universal Dislike gifts and all Cooking except for Bread, Fried Egg, Seafoam Pudding, Strange Bun, and those mentioned earlier. Gifting him Chanterelle, Common Mushroom, Daffodil, Dandelion, Ginger, Hazelnut, Holly, Leek, Life Elixir, Magna Cap, Morel, Purple Mushroom, Salmonberry, Snow Yam, and lastly, Winter Root could undermine your friendship level with Krobus. Lastly, all Universal Hate gifts except Void Mayonnaise could greatly jeopardize what you had worked. In order for in strengthening your bond with Krobus.

Housemate

As peculiar as it may sound, some players are wondering if Krobus could be a prospective partner for marriage; sorry to burst their bubbles but, one cannot marry Krobus but, he can be a roommate.

Once you have reached a particular level of friendship with Krobus, he would be interested in being roommates with you. To make him move in with you, you need to give him a Void Ghost Pendant. Which could be obtained in the Skull cavern or by purchasing it at Desert trader for 200 Essence. This is available upon maxing Krobus’ friendship level.

Krobus, as a housemate has the same perks of being married. Like how as Krobus moves in with you, he will add and decorate his own room to the right of the bedroom. He might also change wallpaper or flooring, and give you gifts, similar to how a real spouse would do. Also, once Krobus moves in, a romantic partner can’t occupy the farmhouse with you; the same way how Krobus can’t move in with you if you are already married.

However, as it is a non-romantic relationship being Krobus’ roommate, hugging Krobus is done instead of kissing. He will also not display a sense of jealousy if you gifted a marriage candidate. Consequently, you cannot adopt or have kids with Krobus. But, he would be more than willing to help you take care and raise existing children from previous marriages if you have one.

Since it is not marriage between you and Krobus, Krobus could only be evicted instead of being divorced. But, it is worth noting that once Krobus moves out. Surely, he would act aloof toward the player by refusing to converse and accept gifts.
