When Does Act 2 Start in Baldur’s Gate 3: Explained!
As we know Act 1 has dozens of quests some of the important quests are Save Mayrina, Finding Cure, Rescue Durid Halsin, Rescue the Gnome, Hunt the Devil, and Save the Refugees. After finishing up most of the quests, the journey in Act 1 will lead you to the Underdark and Mountain Pass.
There will be little side quests in these important locations of Baldur’s Gate 3. Now, when you leave either of these locations, you will get a message that reads, “You Are About To Progress Your Adventure. Make Sure To Tie Up Any Loose Ends Before Advancing!”, this is the point that tells you the Act 2 is about to begin in Baldur’s Gate 3.
Both of these locations will lead you to different spots but they are the spots where Act 1 ends and Act 2 starts. If you are leaving the Underdark, then you will be exiting the place using an elevator that takes you to the Moonrise Towers.
And if you are exiting the Mountain Pass, then you will be going through a wooden tree gate that takes you into the Shadow Cursed Lands. Now, the path will be a little different in both of these locations but they eventually end up at the same spot. So, you will be continuing your journey in the Act 2.
And if somehow you left a few quests unplayed in Act 1 then you still have the chance to go back. There is no restriction in going back to the locations of Act 1.
Mountain Pass in Baldur’s Gate 3
The Mountain Pass in Baldur’s Gate 3 is one fun-filled location. This is a little exciting journey that does not include any side quests in there, although the mountain path itself is an adventure.
So, to start the Mountain Pass, you can either choose the area near the east of Goblin Camp or the bridge on the west of Risen Road. You can choose any of these paths and will eventually end up at the entrance of Mountain Pass.
After entering the Mountain Pass, you will see a new area. Here you can see dead bodies and lots of blood scattered around. You just need to keep on moving on the path after looting the bodies. As you move on the north side, you will reach a waypoint called Trielta Crags.
Don’t stop here, you have a long way to go. Keep on moving down the path until you see a group of enemies. Now, this part of the mountain path is a little challenging. You must use your higher-level skilled characters to win the battle against these enemies.
This group has various types of enemies, and each one of them will have different abilities. The most irritating ones are Death Shepherds, they can revive other enemies on their team. So, you should be focusing on them at first to save time.
As soon as you finish up the whole fight, it’s time to move on. Upon reaching a certain point down the path, you will meet an NPC, Elminster. You can interact with him to learn about his past with one of your party members Gale.
Once you are finished up with him and reach the end of the path, you will see an entrance. This entrance takes you into the Shadow Cursed Lands. Crossing the Shadow Cursed Lands will directly take you to the Moonrise Towers.
Underdark in Baldur’s Gate 3
The Underdark route to Moonrise Towers in Baldur’s Gate 3 is quite a challenging path. Not only that but it also comes with puzzles that you must solve to progress in the Underdark. The route to Moonrise Towers through Underdark starts from the Goblin Camp after you meet Druid Halsin.
In the Goblin Camp, you are going to enter the Shattered Sanctum after clearing the camp from goblins. When you enter the main chamber, look for a wooden door. In that room, you are going to meet Ogre Polma and the bodyguard of the High Priestess.
After clearing the room, enter the next chamber. This place has a Moon Puzzle which is on the floor of the chamber. All you need to do is simply match the plates on the floor to solve the Moon Puzzle.
As soon as you finish the puzzle, an entrance will be opened. This takes you into the chamber which is Selunite Outpost. This place has guards that are not a serious threat, disarm the guards and loot the room. Now, make it to the next room and keep on following the path.
After making it through several rooms and rocky areas, you will eventually end up in an area where you can see lots of mushrooms. This area is extremely dangerous as the mushrooms and other creatures in here are deadly.
You must carefully make it through the mushroom field. Head down until you reach a spot where you meet Gekh. Interact with him and a fight will begin. Just like the rest of the battles, this one is also just a typical battle that’s not hard to win.
After winning the fight move down the path where you will end up on a beach area. Take the boat and sail down into the water. You will reach an iron gate, but to enter through the gate, you must have a Moonlantern with you. This is found by freeing Nere who is stuck in a cave-in.
After freeing up Nere in the cave-in, there will be a battle. This time the battle is quite difficult, you must prepare yourself for a battle before you blow up the rubble in the cave-in and free Nere.
As the rubble blows up, Nere comes out with some other characters. Win the battle and loot Nere’s body to get the Moonlantern. Now, head back to the Grymforge waypoint where you will take the elevator. This takes you to the Moonrise Towers. And finally, the Act 2 starts at this point.
So, now you know that you have two ways to start Act 2 in Baldur’s Gate 3. The first one is going through the Mountain Pass and the second one is the Underdark. Mountain Pass is quite simple and easy, whereas the Underdark involves various side quests and some challenging tasks.
If you successfully finish up everything in Underdark, only then you will be able to make it to the Moonrise Towers and start Act 2. I would recommend you choose the Mountain Pass if you are ready to start this next of Baldur’s Gate 3.
