Baldur’s Gate 3 Can You Do Both Mountain Pass and Underdark?

When you are moving towards the Moonrise Towers in Baldur’s Gate 3, you get a choice either to go through the Mountain Pass or Underdark, which is why players get confused when it comes to choosing the path.

Well, you can do both of them but only one can be done at a time. So, at first, you should go for the Mountain Pass. Then you can try it on Underdark. Mountain Pass has no side quests and is quite easy to complete.

Whereas, Underdark is a completely different world in Baldur’s Gate 3 that has its side quests. So, it is recommended that you level up your character and party before heading down to the Underdark.

This guide has all you need to know about Mountain Pass and Underdark. So, let’s get started.

Can You Do Both Mountain Pass and Underdark in Baldur’s Gate 3

The short answer is yes you can do both of them. Both of these routes take you to the Moonrise Towers which gives you a new main quest in your Baldur’s Gate 3 journey. Although, both of these routes have their own significant values.

Such as Mountain Pass allows you to meet an NPC called Elminster who has a past with one of your party members. Plus, Mountain Pass is the shortest and the easiest path to reach Moonrise Towers and Shadow-Cursed Lands.

As for the Underdark, it is a completely different world than Baldur’s Gate 3 main map. Underdark is located below the surface of the main map. It consists of unique inhabitants and a whole different level of environment which is dark and the complete opposite of green world. As you explore Underdark, you will get to know about its environment and you will also get the side quests.

I would recommend you to choose Mountain Pass first to reach the Moonrise Towers then you can try on the Underdark. If you directly head towards the Underdark then you may find it difficult as you will get a exposure to new environment.
