Lost Ark Gems Guide

When you hit level 50 in Lost Ark, you get access to endgame content. This is the moment from where you have to start struggling to increase your Tiers. Things start getting tougher and tougher as you make progress, but there are various things that can help you greatly on your journey. One of them is Gems.

What Are Gems in Lost Ark

Gems are items that you can acquire in the game and they have many benefits. You can use them to increase the amount of damage your character deal. Furthermore, they can also be used to reduce the cooldown of skills. Both of these contribute to boosting your performance in combat, as increased damage paired with lower cooldown times will put you at a great advantage against enemies.

A lot of players don’t pay any attention to Gems and they continue progressing through the tiers without utilizing them. If you’re one of them, stop doing this. By using Gems, you will be able to strengthen your character, something that will let you progress through the tiers much more quickly. In our guide, we are going to explain everything you need to know about Lost Ark Gems, including the best Gems for each character.

How To Unlock Gems in Lost Ark

First, let’s take a look at how to unlock Gems in Lost Ark. Unfortunately, Gems aren’t something that you can use at the beginning of the game. You will need to make significant progress before you can strengthen the personal skills of your character with them.

As mentioned earlier, you get access to the endgame content after you hit combat level 50. From this point onwards, your only focus is to progress through the Tiers. But if you try to access the Gem System from your inventory, it will tell you to finish the Final Report quest. This quest will become available to you after you complete the “Ark of Arrogance” Dungeon.

Upon completing the Final Report quest, you will get access to Tier 2 content, including the Gem System. You can then start equipping Gems for your characters to give a boost to your skills. With the right Gems in your inventory, you’ll be able to progress through Tier 2 much more quickly.

Types of Gems in the Lost Ark

Now, before proceeding further to how you can acquire them, let’s first talk about different types of Gems in Lost Ark. Many players think that all Gems are the same and it doesn’t matter which ones they get for their character. However, this isn’t the case at all as there are two different types of Gems in Lost Ark.

When you hit Tier 2 in Lost Ark, you’ll start acquiring Gems from different activities. You will either get Azure Gems or Farsea Gems. Azure Gems are the ones capable of increasing the amount of damage your character deals, while the Farsea Gems can reduce the cooldown times of skills. While both of them have different effects, it all contributes to boosting the overall characteristics of your character.

An important thing to keep in mind is that after you complete Tier 2 and enter Tier 3, you’ll start acquiring Gems called Annihilation and Crimson. However, these two Gems are the same as before, with Annihilation Gems increasing the damage and Crimson Gems reducing skill cooldown times. Only their names change and the rest remains the same.

How To Get Gems in Lost Ark

Thankfully, there are multiple methods through which you can acquire Gems in Lost Ark. These aren’t rare items that are difficult to get, so you don’t have to worry about struggling a lot for them. Some of the methods will help you get tons of Gems, while others will only provide you with a handful of them. Either way, you should follow all of them to get the maximum amount of Gems possible.

The best way of acquiring Gems in Lost Ark is by doing Chaos Dungeons. These are a part of the endgame activities that you get access to, and they can be either completed solo or with some teammates. However, keep in mind that the team should have no more than four players. In Chaos Dungeons, your goal is to push forward while defeating powerful enemies. As you defeat enemies, you acquire tons of loot, including Gems.

Another method of getting Gems in Lost Ark is by completing Boss Rushes. These are similar to Dungeons, but in them, you have to fight 15 waves of bosses. However, keep in mind that things can get pretty tough as you’ll even counter bosses that you have never seen before in the game. Therefore, make sure you’re prepared for a good fight. After you defeat these bosses, you get rewarded with chests that include Honing Materials and Gems.

Field Bosses are a big part of the endgame content and they can be found at different locations throughout the map. You can visit these bosses alone or with your teammates to take them down. This can also reward you with plenty of Gems as defeating the Field Bosses is pretty rewarding. And finally, if you have enough in-game currency, you can go and visit the Auction House to purchase gems. However, keep in mind that some Gems will cost a lot, so this option is only for those who are rich. If you can’t afford to purchase Gems, then you should follow the rest of the methods.

How To Equip Gems in Lost Ark

Equipping Gems in Lost Ark is a pretty quick and straightforward process. What you need to do is press P to access your character’s profile and then click on the Gem Tab. From here, you will get the luxury to assign a total of 11 slots to your character. The best part is that you are free to choose however many Gems you want to assign to either the Damage Increasing section or the Cooldown Reducing section.

You should try to create a balance between the two. But if you think that you lack in a certain area, there is nothing bad about adding more Gems to it. However, do keep in mind that you are limited to 1 Gem type per skill.

How To Upgrade Gems in Lost Ark Using Gem Synthesis

Gem Synthesis is the process to upgrade your Gems. It is also known as Gem Fusion. Upgrading them will increase their effectiveness. The higher the level, the more you can expect from it. Below is a quick breakdown of how much the effectiveness of Gems increases with each level.

Gem Level Damage Increase Percentage Cooldown Reduction Percentage
13%2%
26%4%
39%6%
412%8%
515%10%
618%12%
721%14%
824%16%
930%18%
1040%20%

The process of upgrading Gems is pretty simple. However, there are some things that you should know about the process before getting involved in it. First and foremost, you will need three gems of the same level to upgrade them to a single Gem of a higher level. Furthermore, the kind of effect offered by the Gem does not matter.

For instance, if you have three level 2 Gems that reduce the cooldown times of three different skills, you can fuse them together to create a single level 3 Gem. The level 3 Gem will offer the effect of any of the three-level 2 Gems you used for the fusion process.

Fuse Gems

To access the Gem Synthesis area, you will need to open your inventory. There, you will be able to see the option in the bottom left corner of your screen. There will be three empty slots in the Gem Synthesis section, and you can place a Gem in each one. Once done, click on the “Synthesize” button to upgrade all three of them to a higher level Gem.

An important thing to keep in mind is that the Gems must belong to the same Tier. You can not fuse together Gems that belong to a different tier. For instance, if you try to use a Tier 2 and Tier 3 Gem at the same time, the process will not work. However, the chances of success are 100% when you use the Gems of the same Tier. You can also use the Auto feature if you don’t want to choose the Gems yourself.

Rerolling Gems

Along with allowing you to upgrade Gems, Lost Ark also lets you change their effects. For instance, if you got a Gem that is not well suited for your character, you can use the Reroll or Refaceting System to change the effect of the Gem to something that works for you. In other words, you can transform an undeeded Gem into a new one.

Reroll System

The Reroll System can be accessed by going to the Pet Functions sections by pressing Alt + P. But if you want the ultimate Refaceting experience, you can visit a Jeweler who can do the job for you. Jewelers can be found in major cities, and they appear as a Red Jewel Icon on the map.

In the Reroll System tab, you will get the option to select any Gem you want. If you use a Gem from a different class, it will transform it into a Gem that will be for your class. You can even choose a currently equipped Gem. However, keep in mind that the Gem Rerolling process isn’t free as you will need to spend a good amount of silver to change the skill of a Gem. The higher the level of the Gem, the more silver you will need to spend to transform it. Here’s a quick breakdown of the costs:

Gem Level Cost For Rerolling
17,000 Silver
28,500 Silver
310,000 Silver
420,000 Silver
530,000 Silver
660,000 Silver
790,000 Silver
8150,000 Silver
9210,000 Silver
10340,000 Silver

As you can see, the transformation cost starts getting pretty high as the level of Gem increases. Alternatively, you can use the Auction House to sell unwanted Gems and purchase the ones you need by using that money as this is much more cost-effective than transforming a Gem using the Rerolling System.

What Do I Do With The Gems That I Don’t Need in Lost Ark?

If you have reached Tier 2 and are now acquiring multiple Gems, chances are that most of them aren’t going to be of any use to you. However, this does not mean that you should throw them away as unwanted Gems can be used for different purposes.

For instance, you can use the Gems you don’t need in the Reroll System and get something that you want in return. Furthermore, you can sell the unwanted Gems at the Auction House to earn some silver, and then use the money you got to purchase some good Gems. It will be wise to upgrade the unwanted Gems to a higher level first, as such Gems tend to sell more quickly and for a bigger amount.

The Best Gems in Lost Ark

As mentioned before, there are two different types of Gems in Lost Ark. When you hit Tier 2, you’ll see two Gems, Azure and Farsea Gems. However, out of these two, Azure Gems are considered the best gems in Lost Ark because of what they offer.

If you go to the Auction House, you’ll notice that Azure Gems are more expensive than Farsea Gems. This is mostly due to the fact that players are mostly looking for stuff that can help them increase the damage of their attacks rather than reducing the cooldown of their skills. Sure, players do opt for Farsea Gems as they depend a lot on their skills, but most of them prefer the Azure Gems over them for good reasons.

An important thing to keep in mind is that the Gems are different for each class. You can’t expect the same Gem that you use with the Deathblade class to work perfectly with Shadowhunter. For instance, Should Absorber, Void Strie, and Blitz Rush are considered the best damage-increasing Gems for Deathblade, while Cruel Cutter, Demolition, and Cruel Cutter are preferred for Shadowhunter. Therefore, while choosing a Gem, make sure to check out whether it will go well with your class or not.

Conclusion

This Lost Ark Gems guide was everything you needed to know about Gems in Lost Ark. As you can see for yourself, Gems are an important part of the game and you should start using them to give your character an overall boost. This will help you with progressing through the Tiers quickly.
