Overseer Boss Guide

Talking about the bosses in ARK? Well, we can’t miss the Overseer. One of the toughest bosses lined up in the game. Overseer has some exceptional powers that you won’t see in any other boss. Most of the bosses can be grouped into animals.

But, Overseer is a mechanical-looking boss that has a diamond-shaped body and shoots a laser at its target. Surely this one is a dangerous boss in ARK with its powers and large health pool. You are definitely gonna need a strong strategy for this one.

We have made this Overseer Boss Guide for you so that you can prepare for a battle with it. Keep on reading to find everything you need to know about Overseer.

ARK Overseer Boss Guide

Overseer is the final boss on The Island map. And what makes it different from other bosses is its minions. Overseer has two different minions. One is an Attack Drone and the other is Defense Unit. Both of these use different attacking techniques.

Let’s have a look at the details of the Overseer.

Entering the Arena

The Overseer Arena can be accessed on the Island map. And what’s cool about it is you don’t need to find the Obelisk or a Supply Crate. The arena can be accessed when you have completed the TEK Cave. This will teleport you to the Observation Deck where you meet the game’s final boss.

But to enter the TEK Cave, you will need to use the Tribute Item just like other arenas. Upon using the Tribute Item, the cave entrance will remain open for the next five minutes. After that, it will be closed. So, move your dinos quickly into the cave before the timer runs out.

Like all the other bosses, Overseer has three variants: Alpha, Gamma, and Beta. Here is the full list of Tribute Items that can be used.

  • Gamma Broodmother Trophy
  • Gamma Megapithecus Trophy
  • Gamma Dragon Trophy
  • Beta Broodmother Trophy
  • Beta Megapithecus Trophy
  • Beta Dragon Trophy
  • Alpha Broodmother Trophy
  • Alpha Megapithecus trophy
  • Alpha Dragon Trophy
  • Alpha Raptor Claw
  • Alpha Carnotaurus Arm
  • Alpha Tyrannosaurus Tooth
  • Alpha Megalodon Fin
  • Alpha Mosasaur Tooth
  • Alpha Tusoteuthis Eye
  • Alpha Leedsichthys Blubber

Each of these Tribute Items is required in a different number for each variant of Overseer. Moreover, some items can only be used for a specific variant.

Base Stats of Overseer

The Gamma variant of Overseer has a considerably small health pool compared to that of the Alpha variant. Here, take a look at the base stats for the Alpha variant.

  • Health: 207360
  • Stamina: 10000
  • Food: 2600
  • Weight: 4000
  • Torpidity: 350

Overseer doesn’t really move that much, but it has four different forms and keeps constantly summoning its minions, making the battle quite difficult. And yes, the minions drop Element when you kill them. These Elements can only be used during the battle.

The four forms of Overseer include the three clones of other bosses. These clones are Megapithecus, Dragon, and Broodmother. Overseer switches to all of these forms in turns. These forms are the exact copies of the real bosses.

Overseer can even use their attacking techniques while it is in their form. But, it cant summon their minions, and for the Dragon clone, it cannot fly.

Attacking Techniques

Overseer is so powerful that its single attacking technique is enough. It uses a Beam attack which is extremely powerful and cannot be avoided most of the time. So, you are gonna need lots of medical brews and potions.

Apart from the Beam attack, summoning minions is also considered as its attacking technique. The summoning attacks include Summon Drone Minions and Summon Tank Minions. The Beam attack can do a base damage of 4000 points in just one turn. This is definitely the most powerful attack.

Weakness

There is not any specific weakness of the Overseer. Although, it transforms into other bosses and you can identify their weaknesses. The weaknesses of other bosses are applied to Overseer when it clones them. So, that’s definitely an advantage for you.

Moreover, the Beam attack can be avoided in the arena by using the pillars as shields. The arena has four pillars in total. Overseer’s Beam attack cannot pass through it. So, this is another great advantage for you. Or you can count this one as its weakness.

Items Dropped by Overseer

The Overseer when defeated, may drop a good amount of Element. And other than that, it will unlock some high-tech items you can use. These items include Gamma Ascension Implant, Beta Ascension Implant, Alpha Ascension Implant, and TEK ATV.

As it is the final boss of the game. So, don’t expect many items to be dropped by it because all of the usable items are already dropped and unlocked by the previous bosses.

What Dinos to Bring for Overseer Boss

Overseer Boss Guide - Dinos

Bosses are the strongest creatures in the game. So, you should never take them lightly. They are always dangerous and carry tons of power. That is why choosing the right tames should be your first priority. Dinos play the main role in the boss battle.

The higher the level of dinos, the higher will be the chances of winning the battle. So, here are the recommended tames for this boss fight.

Rex

Rex is probably the most aggressive creature right after the bosses. Plus it has some of the best-attacking stats from all dinos. Moreover, they have a big health pool which is the main reason for making them such strong dinos.

Rex can be found on all the maps. Especially since they spawn on the Island in abundance. Try to find the highest level of Rex. Or you can level them up after taming. The level of a dino is an important thing here as they get a boost in stats with the increase in level.

Yutyrannus

Another aggressive creature for the boss battle is Yutyrannus. It has almost the same power as the Rex. But, it has two different attacks which are known as Fear and Courage. Both attacks can do a base damage of 3500 points. So, this is definitely the recommended dino for Overseer.

Yutyrannus can be easily found on all of the maps. Although, they are not easy to catch due to their aggressiveness. They attack immediately whenever they sense danger.

Therizinosaurus

We have another dino for this battle. You may not have tamed this dino yet. If not, then it’s time to get your hands on this one. Therizinosaurus comes under the aggressive group of creatures. It has huge sharp claws which are capable of leaving your opponent damaged.

The main attack of Therizinosaurus is a Claw attack. But it can also use the Bite attack. A Claw attack is one that can do better damage and can be used repeatedly.

Daeodon

The last tame for this battle is Daeodon. After all, it’s a boss battle. So, there are higher chances that you might die without healing your character and your dino. So, Daeodon is the perfect dino for healing during battle.

Daeodon, with its healing abilities, can heal itself and all the dinos on your team automatically. So, this one is also a must-have dino for Overseer battle.

These are the recommended tames for Overseer boss fight. Make sure you level them up first; then you take them into the arena. This will ensure that you have the dinos with the highest possible stats. Also, try to make a group that has all four dinos, which we discussed above.

What Items to Bring to Overseer Boss Fight

Overseer Boss Guide - Boss Fight

Some bosses can be easily defeated without using weapons, but carrying them in the worst case is not a bad idea. During the fight with Overseer, weapons are recommended. Especially mid-ranged weapons. This is because it’s quite hard to stay close to this boss when it is in its original form. It shoots Beam which can only be avoided when you use the pillars as shields.

So, what you gonna do is craft some heavy weapons that have some good range. For instance, you can bring Assault Rifle, Pump-Action Shotgun, Fabricated Sniper Rifle, and some throwable explosives as well. Next, you can take some med kits such as a Medical Brew, food items, and ammunition.

What is the Best Way to Beat the Overseer in ARK?

Overseer is not an easy boss. You need to use a strategy in order to beat it. The first thing you wanna do is avoid the Beam attack at all costs which can be done with the help of pillars in the arena. These pillars act as a shield against the Beam attack.

Now to fight with other forms, you need to look out for their weaknesses. As you have already fought with the previous, it will be easy to beat them this time.

How Many Tames Does It Take to Fight the Overseer?

It depends on the levels of your tame, if you have the highest levels of your dinos then 15 dinos should be enough. Although, you can take a maximum of 20 dinos.

I would recommend you to take the maximum possible number of dinos which is 20. This is to keep things under control and have the maximum chance of beating Overseer. Whether you have the highest level dinos or a little less than the maximum, try to take all 20 with you.

Now, that’s all for the Overseer Boss Guide. It is the final boss in the game that can be accessed from TEK Cave. You need to clear the cave and teleport to Observation Deck where you can meet the final boss.

Now, you need to be fully prepared before you enter the cave. In the cave, there will be some high-level dinos waiting for you. Kill all of them to gain access to the main boss. Take the highest level dinos with you and some high-level items as well, including the health recovery items, weapons, ammunition, and food.
